This Direct-Hire position is in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA), Office of Regulatory Science (ORS). This position is a first level supervisor in an ORA Field Laboratory over a unit of Scientists. The incumbent is recognized as the authority in the program segment(s), functions, and activities of the unit supervised. The products/regulatory issues with which the supervisor oversees are legally/scientifically difficult and sensitive.

Responsibilities
  • Provides occupational specific technical and administrative direction twenty-five percent or more of the time to three or more subordinate employees performing the work and functions of the organization.
  • Guides staff performing analytical method validation and verification.
  • Defines technical work requirements and milestones.
  • Maintains knowledge on quality standards and established laboratory procedures needed for reviewing work products.
  • Obtains resources and identifies strategic objectives for the organization.
